The Worst Industrial Accident in Texas History

The Texas City Disaster is not only the deadliest industrial accident in Texas  - it is also the deadliest in U.S. history. The incident took place on April 16, 1947, and began with a fire on board the French-registered vessel named SS Grandcamp that was docked in the Port of Texas City. The fire detonated over 2,000 tons of ammonium nitrate resulting in a chain reaction of fires and explosions killing at least 581 people.

Vending Machines are More Deadly than Sharks

During this shark week, I am reminded of the LA lifeguard who stated that “more people are killed in the US each year by vending machines” than sharks.  You might think this is fiction but remarkably, it most likely true.  I say “most likely” because statistics relating to vending machine deaths are not as abundant as statistics on shark fatalities.

Recently, I moved my legal site from dedicated servers to cloud servers.  There are benefits to moving to the cloud and there are some potential risks.

Did you know Google recently started using site speed in its ranking formula?

Cloud hosting has the ability to keep websites running quickly and smoothly with great load times. Speeding up websites is important since it will impact your google ranking  and fast sites are important to potential new clients visiting your website for the first time. Faster sites create happy potential clients and when a site responds slowly, your potential new client may bail.
